C or D would make most sense, because if you really think about it society and or humanity usually never know about EVERY act of violence that happens. So therefore THEY as a society aren't involved. This specific cost of violence isn't "costing" them...so to speak.

Yes, because the victim does not have the criminal record and therefore that wouldn't make much sense in effect with how the sentence is worded.
