Could someone PLEASE explain truth tables to me? I read the section in my textbook about it but I didn't understand it.

If I had apples and oranges, does that mean
A) I had apples.
B) I had oranges.
C) I had both A and B.

An and statement is true if you have both things true.

True here will mean I have.
False here will mean I don't have.

So we think of all the possible combinations...
There will be 2^2=4 combinations.

You have apples and you have oranges.
A=T and O=T.

You have apples and you don't have oranges.
A=T and O=F.

You don't have apples and you have oranges.
A=F and O=T.

You don't have apples and you don't have oranges.
A=F and O=F.


But the only way for
"I have apples and oranges" to be true is if you have both apples and oranges.

So if,
A=T and O=T then A and O=T
and all other possibility I mention are false.
That is the following make A and O=F:
A=T and O=F
A=F and O=T
A=F and O=F

Now I know this doesn't explain what A or F or something like if A then F means...
There are two types of 'or's , the inclusive kind then the exclusive kind.
Inclusive or can work like a or and also work like an and so you have a lot more combinations that are true then the exclusive or.
