Larry's account has a balance of −$62.50. If he owes the bank more than $50, his account gets closed. Which of the following is true about Larry's account? It stays open, because |−62.50| > 50 It gets closed, because |−62.50| > 50 It stays open, because |−62.50| < 50 It gets closed, because |−62.50| < 50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well if you think about it when you owe someone its a negative ammount. so if he owes more than 50 it would be <50 (greater/more than 50)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so he owes 62.50 (-62.50) so we can represent this as -62.50 is greater than 50 since he owes more than 50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-62.50 > 50, now this doesnt make sense, because obviously a negative number isnt more than a positve, but because they add |-62.50| this means that the absolute value of 62.50 is postitive.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but you're looking for closed |-62.50| > 50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is that good?>

OpenStudy (tal_tal):

Yeah so it would be B?
