What is the maximum number of alt (alternate) OS accounts that a given OS user may have?

However users have many accounts, mods and ambi's for sure have alts. But i guess it's fine if you don't abuse the alt account

Alternate accounts are ok for when one would like a different username.
Alternate accounts should Not be used for: evading an active suspension, inflation of one's own account's status/smartscore, breaking any of the sites rules, etc.

User have multiple accounts many users as a matter of fact, the strictest mod would ban you for mutliple accounts. But it's fine as long as you use it responsibly ambi's tend to get community banned VERY often which is why they use alts until a mod can reinstate. Mods use them to take a break from all the mod stuff.

You know, we shouldn't be too hard on each word of the coc. Sometimes, in cases like creating an alt account without doing any harm, is okay by general agreement.

which is why the only real exception to the rule is for the purpose of a different username (because openstudy does not have as system to change usernames)
as well as if one's account is broken (a problem on openstudy's end) (such as when chibi's account stopped working due to openstudy not rendering characters properly)

Yet, there is, to my observation, an uneven enforcement of the rules of the Code of Conduct among the Mods, especially of late. I could name two or three Mods whose replies to Users in the threads borders on inflammatory language.

As Pooja pointed out, some moderators can be super strict with the COC whereas some might make the decisions in a slightly less hard approach. But as far as it doesn't actually create a difference in opinion, it's okay. Besides you are always free too consult other moderators for advice!

There is no maximum. You can have alts to a certain extent...by abiding by the rules stated in the coc, which affirms that infation, bypassing a suspension and like are not allowed. Some mods are weary about alts for this reason. But don't worry, if you don't break the rules, you hace nothing to dread.

I asked a mod about this and he said it was fine as long as you dont abuse the code of conduct like use it to say give medals to yourself

Never cross pollinate yours accounts (give medals to yourself) and moderators will not care about them. (Source: I have a a lot of accounts.., Most olive colour; however, a few green.)
