MEDAL! Bradley and Kelly are out flying kites at a park one afternoon. A model of Bradley and Kelly's kites are shown below on the coordinate plane as kites BRAD and KELY, respectively:

Which statement is correct about the two kites? a. They are similar because the corresponding sides of kites KELY and BRAD all have the relationship 1:2. b. They are not similar because the corresponding sides of kites KELY and BRAD all have the relationship 1:2. c. They are similar because the corresponding sides of kites KELY and BRAD all have the relationship 2:1. d. They are not similar because the corresponding sides of kites KELY and BRAD all have the relationship 2:1.

I think the answer might be C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're right.

Are you sure? Just cause I've been kinda stuck on this question (I suck at relationship/ratio questions) Thank you btw!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the first important thing they say is that it is the ratio of KELY:BRAD. This matters, because if it was switched it would be 1:2 instead of 2:1. All the sides of KELY are twice as long as the sides of BRAD, which you can find either with the distance formula.

*or by making triangles out of the sides of the kites. Should have had that on the last sentence.

Thank you so much!! I really appreciate the explanation :D
