25/5(2+3)=?
How is the question formatted? Does it look like this?\[\large\rm \frac{25}{5(2+3)}\]Or is it all on one line sort of like this?\[\large\rm 25\div5(2+3)\]
It looks more like the second one. 25 divided by 5(2+3)
I was saying the answer would be one, but others are saying it is 25. I said it would be: 25 / 5(2+3) = 25 / 5(5) = 25/25 = 1. Others are saying that it would be 25, because you do PEMDAS from left to right when division and multiplication come up. I guess I took PEMDAS too literally.
A few of us were actually having a long argument about a similar question yesterday lol. The notation is very very poor, it's difficult to know what your teacher wants.
I would tend to agree that it's 25. For it to be 1, it should be formatted this way probably,\[\large\rm 25\div(5(2+3))\]
Okay, so it's not just me! And I do agree that it's most likely 25 after looking up rules again. Thanks!
