Identify the type of sampling method based on the description below. A county school board wants to determine what classes students would like to see added to the current high school curriculum. There are 5,300 high school students in the county. The board decides they would like to collect 50 surveys. Using a list that contains the names of all the high school students in the county, every 106th person on the list is chosen for the sample. SRS stratified random sample systematic sample multi-stage sample
tag me please when it's answered. Thanks. Though I know the basics of each sampling method, i do not understand the meaning of this part of your question: " what classes students would like to see added to the current high school curriculum. "
This part is the most important part of it.
Alright, well we know that it possibly can't be multi-stage sampling because multistage sampling is known as a rather complicated form of gathering info and it involves dividing the population into many groups and then choosing either or at random. I say this because I am zooming into key words here....those being: "Using a list that contains the names of all the high school students in the county" Pretty simple right? A list. Nothing very complicated of that. So consider that as one option eliminated.
As a side note, what does the SRS stand for?
@xxImHisGirlxx :)
Simple random sample
Hmm, that is an option we could consider. Have a look at another one that I'm eliminating for you. Stratified random sample. THis involves measuring the information by dividing the population into smaller groups. The statement up above is talking about using a list that contains the names of ALL the high school students in the county. Not SOME...but ALL in the county.
So you have two options left to look at. SRS and systematic example.
I think its SRS
Go with it :)
"Every 106th" That's not random. It's systematic. There are definitions for this sort of thing. Why not go with those?
Ooooh, I totally forgot of that part of the sentence! Your right @tkhunny . That makes more sense, I had completely overlooked that. @xxImHisGirlxx Go with systematic. I'm confident thats the right one. Sorry to have misguided ya
Thank y'all!
No problem :) Sorry again!
