What precedent did George Washington set by refusing to run for the presidency a third time?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

George Washington set multiple precedents by refusing to run for a third term. Firstly, he set neutrality in Foreign Affairs by stepping down and allowing a new President to be run. He also set the two-term presidency that we currently use in our society today. Finally, he helped by calling for the Cabinet to give advice in situations. Hope this helps!

OpenStudy (hope210):

He set the term limit for leaders: it effectively limited the number of presidential terms to two terms, to prevent people from becoming a "president for life" - which would not be beneficial for a democracy.
