OpenStudy (uf0705):

what is the solution to the system of equations? Use the linear combination method (with or without multiplication) 4x - 5y =-18 3x + 2y = -2 (a) (-2,7) (b) (3,-1) (c) (-1,3) (d) (-2,2) help.

thank you

\(\color{#000000 }{ \displaystyle 4x-5y=-18 }\) \(\color{#000000 }{ \displaystyle 3x+2y=-2 }\) One way to do it is through "elimination". I will multiply \(\sf eq\text{#}1\) times 3, and \(\sf eq\text{#}1\) times -4 \(\color{#000000 }{ \displaystyle (4x-5y=-18)\times 3 }\) \(\color{#000000 }{ \displaystyle (3x+2y=-2)\times (-4) }\) I get, \(\color{#000000 }{ \displaystyle 12x-15y=-54 }\) \(\color{#000000 }{ \displaystyle -12x-8y=8 }\)

Then, add the equations
