OpenStudy (kathydimieri12):

What is the value of |−25|? Numerical Answers Expected!

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

\[|-x|=x\]

OpenStudy (kathydimieri12):

okay, what does that mean?

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

x = any value

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

|-1|=1

OpenStudy (kathydimieri12):

so the answer es 25?

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

yes

OpenStudy (kathydimieri12):

thank you mate

OpenStudy (zarkon):

not to be picky but \(|-x|=x\) provided \(x\ge 0\) (so \(|-x|=x\) not true for all \(x\))

OpenStudy (kathydimieri12):

so 25 inst the answer

OpenStudy (kathydimieri12):

@Zarkon

OpenStudy (mathmale):

You'd be much better off if you'd please look up the concept of "absolute value" and look for examples. Who knows? You might find your exact problem among these examples.

OpenStudy (zarkon):

it is 25. -25 is 25 units away from zero

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

You are right, I will go into more detail next time. Thanks!
