whats the definition of a perfect square?

Mehek (mehek14):

A number made by squaring a whole number

OpenStudy (graciek):

thanks

Mehek (mehek14):

Ex: \(5^2=25\\3^2=9\)

Mehek (mehek14):

yw

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I would formally define it as, Area of any square with natural-number sides.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

(zero is not a perfect square)

OpenStudy (graciek):

Thank you

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Anytime:)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

"A number made by squaring a whole number" is a little technically incorrect. Since, 0² = 0, and 0 is not perfect square. but, would be better to say, "A number made by squaring a natural number"

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

(just technicality; but, good definition!)
