Hi Welcome to openstudy :) start with the basic info y=mx+b <---slope-intercept form m=slope Can you write the equation with the slope in it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got y=-2x+2

pooja195 (pooja195):

I think you flipped the numbers around check again :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=2x+-4?

pooja195 (pooja195):

No, you has the right numbers just flipped the slope and y-intercept around remeber that our slope was postive 2

pooja195 (pooja195):

Now take your coordinate nu,bers and plug those into the equation :) 4=(2)(3)+b now solve for b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im confused

pooja195 (pooja195):

Where are you confused? What step? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think the first step

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i might have done it wrong

pooja195 (pooja195):

Ok let me explain this better :P We are give the slope 2 slope intercept form is y=mx+b slope = m y=2x+b now we need to find the b in our equation to do this we would plug in the coordinate pair numbers y=4 x=3 4=(2)(3)+b solve for b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b=-2

pooja195 (pooja195):

Good so you would plug that into y=2x+b plug that in place of b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=2x+-2

pooja195 (pooja195):

you can get rid of the + sign y=2x-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the plus is mandatory in the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@pooja195

pooja195 (pooja195):

oh didn't see that...yea just leave it in their :) you have it right :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay
