How do I write this in set-builder notation? "B is the set of multiples of 3 between -10 and 10"

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Can you first tell which all numbers will be there in it?

OpenStudy (-welp-):

-9,-6,-3,3,6,9

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Wonderful! Now in set builder we need a general term which gives each these values. Like for 2,4,6,8.... We have 2x. Can you think of something like that here?

OpenStudy (-welp-):

3x

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Fine. Also tell me the upper and lower limits of x.

OpenStudy (-welp-):

-3x to 3x?

OpenStudy (-welp-):

Can you just give me an example? "C is the set of multiples of 2 between -8 and 8"

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Yeah for that we can write C={2x: -4<x<4}

OpenStudy (-welp-):

Answer: A= {3x: -3 < x < 3}?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Well done :)

OpenStudy (aravindg):

But it should be <= and >=

OpenStudy (-welp-):

Thanks!

OpenStudy (aravindg):

yw :)
