MEDAL REEWARDS What was World War I fighting for? What was world War II fighting for? I think it was freedom or independence, but I'm not quite sure (this is for my research-project and ALL the resources I look at are too confusing and hard to understand in English-vocab use...

OpenStudy (greatlife44):

WWI the start of it was much more complicated, but it was based on an alliance system where if one country attacked another, then their allies had to go help them. Arguably Germany is blamed for the start of WWI and had to pay serious reparations which contributed to their economy stagnating and to the rise of Hitler.

OpenStudy (micahm):

he correct i could not have said it better then that

OpenStudy (micahm):

or she

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@greatlife44 @micahm So does that mean in both wars they were fighting for revenge of them breaking their alliance system or something. Did Germany start WWI for any reason. I'm trying to make one of my slides on the presentation about the differences between World War I and World War II in the reason that they started to explain why I think World War II is a continuation of World War I, but the information is so hard to find in a way I can understand it's facts (all the explanations on internet like Wikipedia confuses me)

OpenStudy (micahm):

hilter did also some one got shot then one of the wars began

OpenStudy (greatlife44):

Hitler wanted to expand, he believed ethnic germans were in other countries and wanted to take those lands as living space.

OpenStudy (micahm):

does that help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It helps for World War II, but I'm not entirely sure how I can explain what the goal or intentions was for World War I. Like World War I, were they fighting to avenge someone's death, or what and what was the ultimate outcome of it exactly, that's what confuses me.

OpenStudy (micahm):

ok so you have to write paper on this so all you have to do is talk about what cuz the war to start and how it end if i am correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Basically, I need to know / understand that concept at the very least (which I don't because it's so confusing XD)

OpenStudy (micahm):

so what do you know that cuz the war to start

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For WWII it was to due with Hitler and his plans and that they broke a treaty of some kind. For WWI I got no clue why the war exactly started, I keep thinking it had something to due with someone being murdered

OpenStudy (micahm):

how long did it last for

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe wwi lasted four years and wwii lasted around 5 or 6

OpenStudy (micahm):

ok so if you put that in your owen words what do you have so far

OpenStudy (anonymous):

World War II lasted longer than World War I by 2 years. I'm still confused about the reason World War I was started and why they were fighting XP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The simplest answer is that the immediate cause was the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, the archduke of Austria-Hungary. His death at the hands of Gavrilo Princip – a Serbian nationalist with ties to the secretive military group known as the Black Hand – propelled the major European military powers towards war.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For WW1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Some one killed Franz Ferdinand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does that help?

OpenStudy (micahm):

does that help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea I think so, does that mean World War I's response to the actions of Germany was first defensive and than the respond of World War II was offensive?

OpenStudy (micahm):

it could i not 100%sure though
