Why are some microbes not harmful?

OpenStudy (somy):

do you know why some ARE harmful?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Some aren't harmful because they help with aiding digestion, aids to the control of pH levels in the intestines and multiple other reasons! Without them helping with digestion, you may not be feeling so hot for quite some time! Examples of helpful bacteria (microbes) include Lactobacillus/Döderlein's bacillus, Bifidobacterium, and E. coli! Hope this helps you. http://www.buzzle.com/articles/helpful-and-harmful-types-of-bacteria.html (While it's not a medical website, it truly does help for this topic.)

OpenStudy (somy):

it is not just digestion that they can help with) also we have microorganisms not just in the gut but some other places too
