Ella and Kate played basketball last year. Ella scored 16 points per game. Kate's total points for the season were 22 less than Ella's. The following expression shows Kate's total points: 16z − 22 In the expression, what does variable z represent?
@AihberKhan
kate's total point are z
Well, What are the things Z could be?
The clue words are 16 points \(per\) game
What do you think now?
Kate's total points, Ellas total points, number of games, points scored per game

If I told you that there are 12 eggs per `carton`, then the expression 12C would represent the total number of eggs. But then clearly C can't be the total, right? C is the number of cartons, 12 eggs per carton, times the number of cartons, gives us the total number of eggs in all of those cartons.
So if she scores 16 points per `game`, 16z represents all of her points that she scored. But then what does the z represent? :o Any ideas?
