Will medal for help :-) Which three lengths could be the lengths of the sides of a triangle ? 6 cm, 10 cm, 9 cm 8 cm, 4 cm, 2 cm 7 cm, 7 cm, 34 cm 10 cm, 25 cm, 15 cm
Okay so when it comes to these questions, you can figure this out by knowing this fact: The sum of 2 sides of a triangle is greater than the 3rd side.
sum of any two sides of triangle is > then third side use this
So itd be c @the_ocean_girl
No, it wouldn't be C, 7+7<34. For the values to work for sides of a triangle, they need to be greater than the 3rd side.
But a, b, and d are all greater than the third side and there can only be 1 correct answer @the_ocean_girl
Exactly, it needs to be greater than the 3rd side. So let's look at A. In order for A to work, 6+9 needs to be greater than 10, 10+6 needs to be greater than 9, and 10+9 needs to be greater than 6. If that works, then A is the correct answer.
@the_ocean_girl so i get that A is the correct answer but how is B & D not correct ???
B. B is incorrect because 8+4 is greater than 2, 8+2 is greater than 4, BUT 4+2 is less than 8. In order for it to be correct, all 3 sums need to be greater than the third side. Same goes for D. 10+25 is greater than 15, 15+25 is greater than 10, but 10+15 is EQUAL to 25. In order for D to be correct, the sum of 10+15 would need to be 26 or greater. Do you understand now?
Yes thank you !! @the_ocean_girl
No problem! :)
