Use taylor or maclurian to estimate it's value.

sqrt ( 1 + 4) =  2 sqrt( 1 + 0.25)

now use mac:

2 [ 1 -0.5x + 0.5(-0.5)x^2 1/2! + (0.5)(-0.5(-1.5)x^3/3! + ........

2 - x - 0.25x^2 + 0.128 x^3 + ........ 

Now plug x =  0.25, you will get estimated value
