OpenStudy Feedback 8 Online
OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Why is it that the OpenStudy site opens with the Sign Up page, and you need to click on Log In to log in? I'd think that you only need to sign up once, but you may log in many, many times. Wouldn't opening with the Log In page make more sense, so you don't need to click on Log In every time after the first time?

pooja195 (pooja195):

You can always just keep yourself logged in. Can you dumb up what you wrote, for me :P ?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Keeping myself always logged in is a very bad idea because then people think I'm online and keep messaging me for help, and when I don't help or respond, they'll think I'm just ignoring them, which is not the case.

OpenStudy (woodrow73):

Starting with the log-in instead of the sign-up page would be a convenience, but I get where openstudy is coming from if they're encouraging new members to join.

pooja195 (pooja195):

keeping yourself logged in does not show you online if you are not on the OS tab.

pooja195 (pooja195):

*if you are not on OS

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

what is the OS tab?

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Actually this is not true always pooja, if you log out when you leave it will guarantee it stops showing you online, rather then it sticking online for a while... BUT theres also the peanut btuter raisin brand ranbows

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

sorry dozed off... anyway theres also the wonkyness that happens when you log back in

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Forget all that nonsense. How about just answering my original question? Why have to go through the sign up page thousands of times when it is only needed once?

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

because... OS doesn't think things through /shrug

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

as woodrow suggested it was to encourage new users to join since it would be the first thing they would see on openstudy.com I thought many other websites were like that if you had to log in? or is that not the case??

pooja195 (pooja195):

Most sites have the keep me logged in button but when you are off the site like mot using it and dont have it open it shows you offline

OpenStudy (woodrow73):

Now that I look around, a lot of sites use a similar structure. It's only one click to get to the login page, I don't mind.
