I can't understnad the work to solve the comPound Inequalities !! :/
3x + 4 > 16 or -2x + 7 > 9. i don't know where should i start
Split it up into two separate problems 3x + 4 > 16 -2x + 7 > 9. Now solve each for x
3x+4>16 start by subtracting 4 from both sides 16-4=?
12?
ugh.. what else i'm stuck on this problem almost for an hour
12 is right 3x>12 divide both sides by 3
you mean 12/3?? i got 4 O_o wait do i write now x<4??
12/3=4 so yes you have it correct Now do this one -2x + 7 > 9. subtract 7 from both sides 9-7=?
2
3x + 4 > 16 first add -4 to both sides 3x+4 -4 > 16 + -4 and simplify on the left side 4-4 is 0 on the right side 16-4 is 12 so you get 3x > 12 now divide both sides by 3 \[ \frac{3}{3}x > \frac{12}{3} \] now simplify. 3/3 is 1 and 1*x is x also, 12/3 is 4 so you get x > 4 notice the "big" side of > is next to the x and the little end of > is next to the 4 that means x is bigger than 4 in other words, all numbers bigger than 4
-2x>2 divide both sides by -2 -2/-2=1 so x 2/-2= ?
Can you try working on -2x + 7 > 9 what should you do first
like pooja said i i should divide?? :/
We subtracted 7 after that we divide to isolate the x
yea..okayii since you divided 2 y 2 i got -1
