OpenStudy (annie12m):

@RhondaSommer

OpenStudy (rocketisawesome):

hello I will help

OpenStudy (annie12m):

ok

OpenStudy (neonumbrella5115):

Try splitting up the number 72. If you take out a 2, what's left?

OpenStudy (rocketisawesome):

split 72 in half and get 36

OpenStudy (rocketisawesome):

well i hope that helped

OpenStudy (annie12m):

9 * 36 = 9 * ? + 9 = ?

OpenStudy (annie12m):

what i do next?

OpenStudy (annie12m):

@neonumbrella5115 @RocketIsAwesome

OpenStudy (annie12m):

wouldnt the frist blank be 70 and the second blank be 648

OpenStudy (annie12m):

cause 9 * 72 = 648 9 * ____ + 18 = ____ 648 = 9 * 70 + 18 = 648

OpenStudy (annie12m):

648 = 648 = 648

OpenStudy (neonumbrella5115):

For the first problem, yes. That would be correct, since all you're doing is splitting up the 72 to make it easier to work with. So 2 and 70.

OpenStudy (annie12m):

@phi is this correct?

OpenStudy (neonumbrella5115):

@annie12m Yes you are right the first blank 70 and the last one 648!

OpenStudy (annie12m):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (phi):

It's good to get learn this idea, because you use it a lot in algebra.
