Can you add to negatives to get a positive? Like is -2 + -7 = 9 or = -9?

No Negatives stay negative unless you are multiplying or dividing two negatives

In your example, -2 + (-7) would equal -9 So to answer your question, a negative plus a negative equals a negative. Does that make sense? :)
