4x - 2x = 14 - 6

b.) 3(8x - 2) = 46 - 2(- 12x + 1)
24x - 6 = 46 + 24x - 2
24x - 24x = 46 - 2 + 6
0 = 50

The equation is false. However, the mistakes are:

Line 2: In distributing the - 2, - 2(- 12x) = + 24 and - 2(+ 1) = - 2.

Line 4: 48x = 48 + 6 = 54.
