Help ;* Line AB contains points A (−3, 5) and B (−3, 3). Line AB has a slope that is Zero, Undefined, Positive, or Negative

OpenStudy (danjs):

notice the x coordinate value is the same for both of those different points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea!!

OpenStudy (danjs):

if you graphed it, what does it look like connecting those >?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

negative

OpenStudy (danjs):

|dw:1452013952595:dw|

OpenStudy (danjs):

same x coordinate, but different y coordinates form a vertical line like that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its negative and positive so is it undefined ?

OpenStudy (danjs):

since slope is change in y divided by change in x you get \[\frac{ y~change }{ x~change }=\frac{ 3 - 5 }{ -3-(-3) }\]

OpenStudy (danjs):

you end up with a number divided by zero -2/0 you cant divide by a zero, it is UNDefined, vertical lines have an undefined slope

OpenStudy (danjs):

vertical line - undefined slope (number/0) horizontal line - zero slope (0/number)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks uuu ;*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay now i get it.

OpenStudy (danjs):

welcome, gl

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@DanJS whats that mean

OpenStudy (danjs):

you are welcome, goodluck

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yeah
