Mathematics 22 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

(4+3 sqrt 3)(9-2 sqrt 3)

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

and what should we do with that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

36-8 sqrt 3 +21 sqrt 3 - (what?)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simplify it

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Do you know the FOIL method? :) (a+b)(c+d) = ac + ad + bc + bd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

27 sqrt 3*** not 21 sqrt 3

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Let's keep it one question at a time, please.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what I used to get the equation above

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Also, I guess you're using the app?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I used the foil method to get 36 - 8 sqrt 3 + 27 sqrt 3 -18 I just don't know what if the -18 part is right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am using the app I am away from my computer at the moment

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

the -18 part is correct I was just making sure because if had used latex, you wouldn't have been able to see it properly from the app

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

and your calculations are fine, you just need to simplify it now :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay! So the simplified form is 18+ 19 sqrt 3

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

correct! :)
