beta minus particle is not exactly the same as electron because it doen't have any mass...its charge is -1. An unstable atomic nucleus with an excess of neutrons may undergo β− decay, where a neutron is converted into a proton.For proper detailed info.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta_particle
