ok so a preposition is a place or time right? and a prepositional phrase is just a few more words that make a 'phrase' for the prepositional

so, ask yourself this. Where or When was the noun? The noun was ACTORS. where or when are the actors?

A would be an adjective phrase I believe

D would be a verb phrase, but C is correct, because the ACROTRS are IN THE PLAY :)
