Why is this in the English section? @troyking32

the only place people help really is in the math section and this is a math question

OpenStudy (ericthestein):

7.7 meters per 3.5 seconds. Simplify that and you'll get 2.2 meters per second. You can do this by using a proportion, as such; \[\frac{ 7.7 }{ 3.5 } = \frac{ x }{ 1 }\] Basically what you're saying is, "The ball travels 7.7 meters in 3.5 seconds, and travels x meters in 1 second." Then it's just a matter of solving for x. Cross multiply ad you'll get 7.7 = 3.5x. Divide both sides by 3.5 and you'll get x = 2.2. Thus, the ball travels 2.2 meters per second, on average, during its entire trip.
