A. Women were not treated as very valuable during the Great Depression era. They weren’t even worth enough to be on first name basis. B. Curley’s Wife, what was her name… why wasn’t it ever mentioned? C. During these times, the era the book took place, women were not treated as if they had much value. They did not have the same rights as men. D. She had to stay in the house all day doing what women were expected to do. She couldn’t even talk to other men without being looked at as trouble. E. Women were able to do very little during this era. Once you were married, you belonged to the man as if you were an object. You had all these expectations piled up on you, and that is exactly what was happening to Curley’s Wife.
