I am only 13 About what year of age do you people think that I will blow up in the music business?
That depends on how willing you are to do the hard work. If you are willing to work hard and show how dedicated you are, it could be soon. If you are a musician just as a hobby and expect to just luck into something, then probably never. I hope you make it. What kind of music do you do?
Firstly, it happens at any age. You can't just expect an age to be picked or a year or a certain time frame. Secondly, There is no certainty that you will "make it." You are 13. Dreams don't hit reality till you are way older, and besides you might change your mind, something drastic could change a lot of circumstances, and you cannot just expect it to happen. You have to focus on whats on your plate right now. You have to get through school, you have to deal with many other responsibilities before anything happens. I've known and heard of people in their 50's who haven't gotten nowhere, but they kind of just play around. I'm not trying to be discouraging, I don't know what your into, but just don't make bets. Do what you like and have fun. Don't be that focused on the fame aspect really.
i would have 2 agree with livebug as a fellow writer of songs
and im also the same age
well i agree with @Atsie you can't just pick an age it could happen at anytime or never at all, and you would have a better shot as a song writer or a rock singer than you would as a rapper or hip hop artist no offense
and i agree with her for another reason, i tried to be the next best thing and be like the metal band DISTURBED and i went crashing down back to earth after the 1st song i made and sang got rejected by a producer. its not all what you think kid, it's more complicated to become a singer/song writer than it is to get to the UFC as a fighter or anything else for that matter.
I'm not the only one here? I thought I was gonna get all this hate and flack for my comment! I've had my own experiences as well. I've tried to be a Demi Lovato and an Aretha Franklin and THAT does not work. People have heard those attempts and told me to just be natural. My being natural definitely gained more respect and fans then all these dreams of being famous and being like other singers. You just can't pick what happens in life. Its a wild ride and you do what you can. :) Thanks for the support @adamgrimm :)
Hi! I think any age you are ready. It depends if you are ready to go into the world of business. Many younger kids are able to make it BIG in the music business. If you really want and you are willing to following through you will be amazing and shine!
Hey! Anyways, it's kinda hard now adays to blow up. Well, if you wanna blow up right, you can do it at any age really. It matters how hard you work and of course how good you are. But here's something I would advise to you. Try to go with something different. If you can produce music that's amazing, yet raw at the same time. You'll be able to blow up easily. It's harder now considering everyone is trying to mimic someone else, but if you produce some really good music. You'll be able to blow up at any age. :/ Don't try to be like anyone else, they can be your inspiration, but just be you c: But as Atsie said, try focusing on what's on your plate now. You still have school and your life ahead of you. You can plan it, but just slow down a bit. Cause imagine if you blew up now, it'll be hard for you to do schoolwork and stuff. Plus the pressure is hard too, so if you wait a little, your mind will begin to develop more which will help you stand the pressure. Good luck cx
Definitely agree with @bringmetherain I'm gonna be 17 soon and I still have to focus on what matters the most before any of my dreams. I think we all do and will realize that at some point.
I know that I will blow up eventually (Prob not like C Brezzy or MJ) but I will get there (Most likely like a Kalin and Myles famous [no offense to the KamFam...I am with u]) I just have to work hard enough... and thx @celinegirl that is really helpful... Also, when I get rejected {cuz I know that it will have to happen at least 3 times before somebody decides to sign me} I really won't care since I know I have talent. I just know that they have lost a lot of money that they could have had in the future... what is that supposed to mean @adamgrimm ? 1st I hate rock/metal/ect. music 2nd I am a song writer and those are some of the genres I do...
@Livbug326 I do rap, hip hop, and pop
I hope that I can do a colab with Skylar Stecker It really should have been me long ago instead of MattyBRaps... I would really like to know... Some1 plz tell me 1 time when that dude was spittin some hot fire...
it means don't get your hopes up cause the ride up will feel like a breeze compared to when you come crashing down back to Earth after you realize everything isn't what you want it to be
You can hate me but honestly I don't care. When you do "blow up" then you can rub it in my face, but if you don't then don't go complaining to anybody cause me and @Atsie and @Bringmetherain, just gave you some of the best advice you will ever get in your life.
Whoa. Calm down guys XD Anyways what @adamgrimm said about how if you were into rock/metal/ etc. it would actually be easier to blow up than in hip hop or pop is accurate. I'm glad you have confidence, that's one of the most important thing is to believe in yourself. But must I remind you everyone is trying to blow up in those genres. I'm glad you have this dream but slow down a bit okay? How about you start small and start making youtube videos? After making those videos and gaining support you can think of expanding bigger. But I feel as though if you have a youtube account with alot of support backing you up, you'll have a better chance at getting signed. Metal and rock is actually pretty decent if you give it a try (; I like all genres of music but rock, metal, etc, and alternative is probably my top favorites. And yes the road up may be a breeze but you will get rejected sometimes and get disappointed by never lose sight of you dream. So just start small okay? Good luck.
Agree with @adamgrimm and @bringmetherain. Starting small is extremely important, and making YouTube videos is also the best way to do that. The three of us here aren't experienced like pro's in any way, but we do know enough from personal experiences that cannon's don't just blow without a bomb or an explosive of some sort.
nice
Well I have been workin pretty hard Got enough songs for an EP now!!!
mattyB got big at age 10
I've never seen this post before but this kid has guts. Also let me throw some advice out there. You need more than a song to present to a record label because they're not just looking for a song from you they want to see how well you are in front of hundreds of people. And yes even small artists perform in front of hundreds even sometimes about 1700 people. So record labels want to see how well you are in front of a crowd first. That was my mistake. Also don't be over confident because guarantee after the first label rejects you you will be devastated. It's inevitable. We thought we were the best band around but instead we got a reality check quick after that. Also playing a one or two shows won't cut it. My band has played at least 70 small shows and opened as local bands for several decent named bands. That's just since we moved to LA. We sent in our song before we moved. On a last note don't compare yourself to Matty B. He was a 15 minute of fame kind of deals. Now the main subscribers he has are people who are just now hearing about him or people who haven't been on YouTube in at least a year. So unless you want to be a 15 minute of fame kind of artist then don't compare yourself to Matty B.
are you talented? and from canada? if your anything like bieber or mendes then at 16.
w//e age....u just gotta take the music business serious
bieber got famous at the age of 13 but was already performing covers at different places when he was 10-11
Hi what I say is try to get out of school first and then focus on your music are you in chorus or a band that could help
I WAS is a school chorus but I can play the guitar :/ My lil bro and cousin wanna do music wit me
I am very talented btw I can serious rap Roast rap And I'ma funny type rapper I can also sing and dance I also act I can do it all!!! (There is somethings I can't act in...) I COULD THE NEW CBreezy (not there is 1 needed >.>)
You don't know grammar. That's something you can't do. Just saying.
I am actually pretty great with grammar Just cuz i'ma rapper doesn't meant I'm dumb I am actually pretty smart (My whole family is) I just type that way >.>
Okay anyways. It's not easy kid. Don't be cocky because believe me it will hurt if and when a record label rejects you. You got some serious advice especially from me. I've opened for a few decent named bands and I'm not signed to a label. At the same time some of the greatest artists were never signed to a record label. A band called Our Last Night was signed to Epitaph Records for a few years than produced their most recent album Future Dreams and I think their last one Oak Island as well on their own. No one needs a record label to be successful.
My biggest fear is for people (girls) to reject my love and that fear is on its way outta mah life anyway so trust me...I won't care...I have lost enough to know that I will not always win so trust me...I won't care...And i'm not cocky...I'm over-confident...I think there is a difference :/ >.>
That's not a good thing to admit. Believe me over confidence or being cocky is not far apart. Even if they were completely different it's still a bad thing and you'll still feel bad. Plus you said you are 13 it's extremely rare for a 13 year old to develop some kind of story big enough to have trust issues. Not saying you don't. I can't say what issues people do or do not have. But even so no matter what it'll still hurt. Take it from someone who's been playing music since he was 12. I'm 19 now. It's not easy. It's the hardest thing you'll ever go through as a career choice.
Welp, I keep getting notifications on this post and I've also had a birthday since then. I must say, I'm 17 and I'm truly scared out of my mind as to what I can even do or what any abilities I have can profit towards other people. You being 13 Mike and have all of this confidence is fairly unwise. You have to have experience before you can have confidence, and I can tell by the way you talk that you haven't had that in life. Don't take it personal, but take it as a reality that could save your life. :)
i kind of agree with atsie because when you get a little older like around 16-18 you will most likely change your mind and if your this stuck up and too confident about yourself, most people will take you the wrong way and call you rude things, so if i were you i would just stay calm and not to stuck up but slowly build up your confidence and popularity and thats how youll slowly gain fans. becuase you know first impressions are the most important. if you ruin it, it will effect your future. even if you may feel so sure about it now and be like this is what i want to do for the rest of my life, you have to take things slow cause you have get used to it, you will have haters and since your still so young this could lead to depression and suicide, so i think that you should wait for like a year or two.
I have been singing and dancing since 3 I have been writing songs since I could write I have been rapping since I was 7 If ya ask me...That is a lot of time to get rejected I have lost every talent show that I have been in I never cared.I hear the word "no" plenty of times when I wanted to hear "yes" Trust me, I give my word, I won't care I also do know thats not good to admit but I ain't gone lie...
@MikeyMaximum My solemn advice is for you to take everything slow and focus on your education right now, because if you do otherwise....Lord knows what nightmare your going to turn into. I'm not trying to be mean, but this is reality and I hope you take it to heart. :)
I might be cocky but I am very humble... I do appreciate the people who like my art And I go to school so I had haters since kindergarten I have waited long enough...I would like to start while I can or something might come up that might ruin my life
I take but I also give... A LOT I will never be a jerk I haven't started Why I start now? I'ma be good
Is there a button to delete notifications because I prefer not to comment on a post anymore with me repeating myself for hours. Just follow literally everyone's advice. Some people have experience in front of crowds (like me) and others have experience recording music (almost everyone on this section). So anyone who has commented has given you decent advice to go off of.
@MikeyMaximum ive been performing in front of big stages so i know how it feels, sometimes it feels like you know what you wanna do with the rest of your life but you never know what tomorrow brings, yes i am one of selenas backup singers but i still manage to do my schooling, my advice is since your still barging your way to becoming "famous" remember if your so called singing career fails what are you gonna do if you dont have your education? theres not that much good jobs that you can do without going to college or even finshing high school. so from my personal experience, yes it did work out but i was like almost fifteen when all this happened, i think you should at least get done with your schooling, since im almost done with high school when im supposed to be in like10th grade right now, instead i got into a really expensive home school and you could actually finish high school in like two years if you really try, theres also this program with this school called running start and you can actually start going to college in tenth grade while doing homeschool, but it does get stressful, so if i were you and since you still are very young i would just stick with education first until your at least in 11th grade. but good luck
What's your name @aulyanchuk? I'm gonna look you up on YouTube.
I've always wanted to look him up on YouTube myself :) I love watching new developing people with talent! @aulyanchuk what is your YouTube name?
I know what it feels like to be on stage and I love it. The stage is one of my favorite places. Selena who? o.O I'm gonna finish school regardless cuz I wanna open up a parkour gym. Me leaving school (unless after college graduation) is not even part of this equation.
hmm...well it depends. how bad do you want it?
Really badly O.O
Is there a stop notifications button or something. I'm really trying not to say it.
I dunno...
Then don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Are you willing to take the hits? The pain? If you wan it, then take it. Don't wait for it. It will never be a perfect opportunity. :D
People who say they can and those who say they can't are both usually right. Believe in yourself and there is NOTHING you can't do.

Don't be like me. I was a wrestler. I was a state placer my freshmen year. But I injured my elbow, so I gave up. I can't wrestle near as good as i could. I gave up. Never give up, and chase your dreams.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FINE I WILL SAY IT. The rejection from fans is the worst thing you'll ever go through. Ever had a first break up now multiply that pain x100 at least. When I left GA I thought my fans back there would hate me and the rest of ABM but no some of them are still loyal. You wanna know how to tell that you are truly committed and you want the best by taking the pain of having people reject you as a musician. Not just a musician but as a person as well. If you don't take that pain to heart and if you get cocky or over confident (I don't care what you call it it's the same thing) then you're not ready to be big. Believe me the struggle is real. Say I'm wrong or say you won't get afflicted just means you're not ready.
Hes right. But are you gonna be soft? Are you gonna let other people run you? You can be famous whenever. It takes determination. If you know what your worth, then get what your worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits. It doesn't matter how hard life hits. It only matters when life hits if you can get up, and keep going. If you can keep moving forward. I learned that lesson from wrestling. I learned that you can either fight life, and become great, or loose and let life beat you down and keep you there. My awnser to your question is yes. You can do anything you want, but you got to fight for it.
That was implied and what's it gonna be @MikeyMaximum you gonna still make music and play shows?
For the record shows = concert, Just a smaller concert.
im not trying to bring you down. Im trying to motivate you in a realistic way
See I'm a realist. But not the ones who justify being a jerk by saying they're a realist I am actually a realist.
are you saying im being a jerk?
What? No. Never once said that.
oh..ok i was just checkin XD sorry bout that
I'M STILL DOIN MUSIC!!! ALL DAY!!! Yup...Mind made up...Thx peeps (I also had a lot of fake friends so I know it is to lose fan) (I also [sadly] get rejected a lot) (And sorry bout ur career tho)
