I'm helping my brother with his math, and we came across the equation 19/99. From a calculator, we know that the answer is 5.4, but we can't figure out how to get it. If anyone can explain, that would be great!

multiply the number you are dividing

it makes a lot more work but makes it easier to understand

multiply it until you get a number you think you can divide with then just divide the answer by x ( how much you multiplied) and then you are finished you got the answer
