OpenStudy (thecuteone25):

Why don't we see the moon's face when its in its new moon phase

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

The reason is because the sun is not shining on the part of the moon we are seeing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the earth moves and the sun can show some of the moon in a certain area

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the sun can't shine everywhere on the moon all the time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since the earth moves making it be different in some places

OpenStudy (thecuteone25):

thanks @Liam2004 and @StudyGurl14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

more precisely it's beacause of the rotation of the moon around the earth

OpenStudy (thecuteone25):

thanks @L-Lawliet-L

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when the moon, the earth and the sun are on a same line the sun can't shine on the moon beacuse the part of the earth where it is day is blocking the sunlight

OpenStudy (thecuteone25):

thanks that's exactly what I needed @L-Lawliet-L

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you're welcome
