OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

Guidelines to Choreograph a Dance Guideline #1: Choose your style. Do you like folk, Latin, or maybe, hip-hop? Guideline #2: Start by choosing the music. Choose a song with a beat that is comfortable for dancing. Try choosing your favorite song. Guideline #3: Next, listen to the music and start dancing! Improvise the first time through and you will have some moves to help you make up your dance. Let your body flow, move, and bend to the rhythm of the music. Guideline #4: When you find a step you like, write it down, or capture it on video or with a digital camera. Guideline #5: Listen carefully and find music sections that repeat. Name the sections. You could use marks, squiggly lines or symbols to show the rhythmic patterns. Put the moves together in a way that flows. Guideline #6: When you have a basic outline of the footwork, you can begin to add other details. Use your arms, hands, legs, and feet. Don’t forget your shoulders, knees, head, chest, and hips. Guideline #7: Practice your routine over and over. Make changes and work on your technique. You might get some input from other people. Guideline #8: Practice in front of a mirror to check your technique, and see how it looks.

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

its alot -.-

OpenStudy (aihberkhan):

Okay let's do this step by step! :) \(Guideline~1:\) Let's work with Hip-Hop because I know a lot about that! :) Okay? @Nikki_Skellington

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

ok :D

OpenStudy (aihberkhan):

\(Guidline~2:\) Do you any good hip hop songs you like?

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

im not really sure im more into dance music but do you know any?

OpenStudy (aihberkhan):

Well, let me try to find a hip hop song with no words, just music.

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (aihberkhan):

Okay How About This: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_2zkuGjWc0

OpenStudy (aihberkhan):

It has a lot of beats that I think you can work with. But, you may want to shorten it.

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

ok lemme check

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

lol probably not how about dance music

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

i mean it sorta the same beat not as upper beat

OpenStudy (aihberkhan):

Well, you can find that later. I will help with the rest. \(Guideline~3:\) This just wants you to get up, listen to the music, and dance to it. Just for fun with no thought. :)

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

ok

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

ok but im not to good at making up dance moves

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

i need 8 different steps

OpenStudy (aihberkhan):

Well for \(Guideline~3\) you don't have to think. Just dance. That is for the next one.

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

ok

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

i found a song so that will help with step 4

OpenStudy (aihberkhan):

\(Guideline~4:\) We can't help with the part where you have to think of dance moves because that is your imagination. However, you do need to know the terms of dance moves and how to do them. So look at this site. It should help you: http://dance.lovetoknow.com/glossary-dance-moves

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

kewl that already has the dance moves

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

if i put a link of the song i picked could so you could tell me if it will be good?

OpenStudy (aihberkhan):

Well, it does not matter. As long as you can work with it. Doesn't matter what I think, because if I like it and you can't work with it... that wouldn't be good :) Now, that is all I can help with. The rest is up to your imagination, creativity, memorization, etc.! I wish you the best of luck! :) @Nikki_Skellington

OpenStudy (aihberkhan):
