Please help! Fan and medal will be given. Thank you:) Which correctly describes the roots of the following cubic equation? x3+ 6x2+ 11x + 6 A. One real root, two complex roots. B. Two real roots and one complex root. C. Three real roots, two of which are equal in value. D. Three real roots, each with a different value.

OpenStudy (md152727):

Three real roots, each with a different value. x^3 - 6x^2 + 11x - 6 = 0 The power is 3 so we are looking for three roots of the form (x + a)(x + b)(x + c). Factors of 6 are 1,1,6 or 1,2,3 and we are given that one factor is 3 so the others are 2&3. Now you have all possible numbers, so guess and check.

OpenStudy (ray1998):

A?

OpenStudy (ray1998):

Oh, okay.

Thank you :)
