Discuss how third world countries are impacted by diseases such as malaria. Do you believe the United States should be responsible for disease prevention in other countries? Why or why not?
Any Ideas?
It is the responsibility of each person to be responsible for themselves. The same with countries. But Even on a selfish level, the US should be concerned with eradicating disease when possible. We interact with other countries. If disease is wiped out in the US but not other countries, then we are still vulnerable to those diseases when we interact with them. Also, sick people don't work. Even if we are just worried about making a buck through trade, it's in our best interest to make sure our partners are healthy. If there's lots of sickness in China, we might have to wait longer for the new iPhone. On a humanitarian level, we should do all we can to help other people improve their lives and relieve suffering. Helping each other is what gives our lives meaning. If you just beat people up and take away their cookies, nobody is gonna go to your funeral. except maybe to pee on your grave.
Thanks and I promise I will never pee on your grave.
