Why did many people oppose anarchy as too extreme?

Anarchy never lasts. When there is chaos, someone takes control. People want some kind of order so the'll support a leader or try to defeat that leader and take control themselves.

People who don't want anarchy, are comfortable enough with how things are because they don't know what will come next.

By human Nature we try to make the place we are better for ourselves and for our "offspring" So in that state of mind we have basic rules we learn to establish help us grow and become better. We are constantly searching for ways to make our surroundings better by making it safe. Anarchy is a state without a set of rules or government. That type of system shows no plan for improvement so Humans can not sustain it in society.
