OpenStudy (dawh1t3boi):

A man’s suit was on sale for 15% off the regular price. The sale price was $216.75. What was the regular price?

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

32.51 is 15% of 216.75 so if that is the sales price they took 32.51 off the original price so add them together to get the original price.

OpenStudy (dawh1t3boi):

thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is not the correct answer. The question is not asking for 15% of 216.75. The question states that X-15% = 216.75, solve for X

OpenStudy (dawh1t3boi):

ya i had to add 216.75 to 32.51 and i got what the answer is

OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):

I don't get what your saying but i do think i messed up. Sorry that was my mistake. It was 15% off of the original price not of the sales price. This means you would need to find the original price then take 15% off and see if it equals to 216.75.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add 216.75 and 32.51, then multiply that answer by 15%. Does it return 32.51?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let x be the original price. The question states that X-15% = 216.75, solve for X

OpenStudy (vickyisthesmartone123):

A man’s suit was on sale for 15% off the regular price. The sale price was $216.75. .85x=216.75 x=216.75/.85 x=255 Therefore, the regular price was $255.

Providing the answer is not helping anyone learn.

OpenStudy (vickyisthesmartone123):

@mthompson440 Sorry, but I explained it. :)

OpenStudy (vickyisthesmartone123):

This person look EXTREMELY stuck. I had to help since I don't see any movement here...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Again, providing the answer is not helping a person learn.

OpenStudy (vickyisthesmartone123):

@mthompson440 You not doing anything isn't helping the person either...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have only been in the dialog for 7 minutes. The person asking the question has barley engaged with me. You interpretation of what is happening in incorrect.
