Help me with Triangles for medal and fan.

OpenStudy (danjs):

the similarity is about how lengths are related from one to the next, if they are similar, all coresponding lengths will be in the same proportion as the original they told you as given they are similar triangles, from that using those given side lengths 32 to 12 - -- 32/12 A larger side is 32/12 the length of the same smaller side

OpenStudy (danjs):

area for the triangle is Area larger = 0.5 * Base * Height they gave you the larger area, to change that to the area of the smaller one, you use the ratio, larger side is 32/12 the same smaller side, or the other way, a small side is 12/32 of the same large side Area smaller = 0.5 * [ 12/32 *Base] * [12/32* height]

OpenStudy (danjs):

in gerneral , the areas have two linear factors in it, you have to include 2 of the similarity constants to change from large area to small area the difference is the smaller area is (12/32)*(12/32) = 9/64 of the larger area

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

Alright

OpenStudy (danjs):

1 dimension lengths proportional by some value 2 dimensional L^2 are proportional by that value^2 . .
