Which choice explains the correct way to move the decimal to find the quotient in the problem 31.28 ÷ 100?
If you divide 31 by 100, will the result be larger or smaller than 31? Where are your answer choices?
you would move the decimal point to the left 2 spaces since when you divide a number that will make the number move a decimal place it is moving to the left and when you multiply it is moving to the right so you would move 2 spaces to the left making it 0.3128
medal?
I would appreciate it since I need a medal
thank you so much
@shira1424338: We still haven't heard from you. Please comment, ask a question...please get involved. Have you an idea of what to do now to answer this question?
If we divide decimals by 100 then the decimal point moves to the left the number of zeroes but if we are multiplying, then the decimal point moves to the right the number of zeros. Ex. 34.156/100 = 0.34156 but 34.156 * 100 = 3415.6
