Floating Banana Poem

It shone and bobbed on the blue sea
Bright yellow and unafraid
The easiest prey of them all
Yet lounging under the scorching sun, bobbing about the salted waters.
But as time passed,
this phallic fruit
Became discontent with the monotone of the ocean waves.
Sure,
There was the occasional storm
But the banana didn't feel
This was life.
But it was only a banana,
What could it do?
It had no legs to run
No arms to swim away.

But one day when the clouds gathered in a rolling mob,
When the wind pushed and pulled at the waves
And the lightning searched for a victim,
There came a fish that had lost his way.
It had seen the glow
of the ever-floating, ever-shining banana
and had swam to the beacon.
The banana comforted the frightened fish
Stayed by its side as the storm abated
Until his eyes were less bulbous from fear
And more from being a fish.
Thus sparked a symbiosis
That sparked a friendship
That made bobbing around on the ocean
Feel like living.
