the leatherback sea turtle is the fastest known reptile, with a maximum speed of 21.92 miles per hour (mph). Which of the following equations, where d is distance in miles and t is time in hours, represents a speed that is less than that of the leatherback sea turtle? Select all that apply. a. d = 2.192t b. d = 20t c. d = 22t d. d = 30t

OpenStudy (prettygirl_shynice):

ill help

563blackghost (563blackghost):

Now we want to know the total distance so that would make this...\[D=\]Now we know that a sea turtle travels at 21.92 miles per hour so how would you place that into the equation?

OpenStudy (prettygirl_shynice):

okay which one u think it is

563blackghost (563blackghost):

Also we see that each of these answers are rounded meaning we should round 21.92...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorryyy i had to do something im back now @563blackghost @Prettygirl_shynice

@DanJS @Mehek14

OpenStudy (danjs):

how far you travel in a given time here is how fast you are moving times how long you moving distance = rate * time which has a rate less than the turtle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im a little confused

OpenStudy (danjs):

it is just a line like y = m*x graphed on Distance vs Time Graph The constant velocity is the slope, how fast distance is changing the larger the slope, the faster the velocity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhhh i seeee

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but how will i find out which ones are the answer

OpenStudy (danjs):

more general saying, 'rate of change' , y vs x, distance vs time, ... exe, just slope pick the answers with a smaller velocity, Turtle - 21.92 mi/h

OpenStudy (danjs):

2.192 20 22 30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 20?

OpenStudy (danjs):

yes 20 mi/h is less than 21.92 mi/h one more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

22

OpenStudy (danjs):

no 22 is larger than 21.92 They are A and B, 2.192 and 20 mi/h both are less than the turtles 21.92 speed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh my mistake

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank youuuuu sooo much @DanJS
