Factor. x^2+10x+16

OpenStudy (zenmo):

List the numbers that multiply to 16

OpenStudy (zenmo):

for example: 8 x 2, 16 x 1, ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do u think

OpenStudy (jnavao):

4x4

OpenStudy (jnavao):

ok after that what do i do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay do as Zenmo says find a multiple of +16 in the sense that if its summed up u will get +10

OpenStudy (en):

you can use the quadratic formula :)

OpenStudy (en):

\[x=\frac{ -b \pm \sqrt{b ^{2}-4ac} }{ 2a }\]

OpenStudy (en):

a=1 b=10 then c=16

OpenStudy (en):

use first \[x=\frac{ -b+\sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{ 2a }\] by this you can get 1 factor of x after use \[x=\frac{ -b-\sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{ 2a }\] you'll get the second factor of x :)
