Being a moderator here is a voluntary work for which we do not get paid. Being an admin is a different thing. You have to pay them for making the site better. I think Preetha is more concerned about increasing the number of users in the site. This means increased savings and thereby, maybe possibility of adding new admins and crew to the team. It's just a theory though.

Moderators can't randomly see any direct messages. But they can see it if the receiver reported it. Admins can see everything happening on the site. So nothing is private!
