Use the net to find the approximate surface area of the cylinder to the nearest square meter. A: 440 m^2 B: 314 m^2 C: 283 m^2 D: 214 m^2 @hartnn @ParthKohli @Compassionate Image Below

hartnn (hartnn):

The two circular bases will have the area of \(\Large 2 \times \pi r^2 \) and the curved surface has one side as height h =9 and other as circumference of the base circle 2\(\pi\)2, so its area will be \(\Large 2\pi rh\) Calculate those 2 areas and just add!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, thats a little confusing. so i do 2x3.14x5^2?

hartnn (hartnn):

yes, thats for base area, calculate that. Then also get \(2 \times 3.14 \times 5 \times 9\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then add them together?

hartnn (hartnn):

yusss

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 439.6 would i round to 440 meaning A?

hartnn (hartnn):

yes! :)
