What times what equals -36 and added equals -84

OpenStudy (priyar):

keep the nos x and y and try to frame 2 eq's out of the given info..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First list all the factors of 36! And then we know that one will have to positive and the other will have to be negative.

OpenStudy (richgall____):

-18 x 2= -36 + (-48) = -86 because when you add a negative you're really subtract making it -86

OpenStudy (jessicaloraine):

I cant think of any. Is this problem an x factor for factoring out like a polynomial?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We could use the quadratic formula to find it. I'm guessing the equation is x^2 -84x - 36 right?

OpenStudy (priyar):

ya but it is x^2+84x-36
