SOS WILL FAN AND MEDAL FOR FIRST ANSWER 70% of a number is 98. What is 90% of that same number? A. 63 B. 68.6 C. 88.2 D. 126
it cant be anything less than 98 since it's asking for more
wait, nvm
Hey there!
'of' means multiplication 'is' means equal
So the question has given us: 70% of a number is 98 Let's call our number 'x'
So, we change the 'of' into a multiplication sign and the is into an equal sign and 'a number' to 'x' we can also change 70% to 70/100 = 7/10 = 0.7 0.7x = 98 Can you solve for 'x' ?
Thanks Megan! You're the best! :(
@truwhovian11 We would all appreciate if you would cooperate! \(\Large\ddot\smile\)
@Comrad Thanks! I try my best! :)
sorry fans for everybody
98
Well, medals are not important. You learning this concept is more important. Medals won't help you in real life, now will they? We need you to learn this concept so that any similar question you get, you should be able to solve in 2 minutes!
what do u mean im trying my best this computer is old and slo
it is b
Hey @britannic @dilphill31 Welcome to OpenStudy! We don't give answers because that won't let the asker learn :( Try to engage the asker in a conversation so you can guide them to the answer! Also you might want to read this: http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct
Yes @MeganXOXO very True! We don't really need medals, all we want is to learn, and improve with our education :)
how would u explain that then
yeah i just looked at the explinations that u gave me and i also used this link to understand better im not an idiot you know Percent - Math Goodies www.mathgoodies.com/lessons/vol4/meaning_percent.html A percent is a ratio whose second term is 100. Percent means parts per hundred. The word comes from the Latin phrase per centum, which means per hundred. In mathematics, we use the symbol % for percent. Let's look at our comparison table again.
Look at all of my posts before, the asker has to answer the question I left him with. Can you solve for 'x'? 0.7x = 98
Yes, so for the equation I gave you. How can we isolate 'x'? :)
sory that was my sis she is always trying to get people mad at me
I'm not mad at all \(\ddot\smile\)
"70% of a number is 98. What is 90% of that same number?" This problem might be better understood if you separate it into two parts: 1). Let the unknown number be x. Find the value of x. 2) Find "90% of x." Done. What have you learned from previous problems that you could apply to solving this latest one? Write an equation now that would enable you to find the unknown number, x.
Exactly what mathmale said. First we need to find out 'x' is so that way we can find "90% of x."
MeganXOXO posted this earlier; it is appropriate! So the question has given us: 70% of a number is 98 Let's call our number 'x' Write an equation in x that will enable you to solve for x.
@MeganXOXO thx for understanding
np
hey can u help with some more questions if u dont mind @MeganXOXO
Sure, ask away! :)
ok ill make another question
