EEk, I don't really know. I'm having like a mindblock right now. 
I thought of drops of glue, but it doesn't make sense.
Like drops of glue matching the number 30....

You have a head. Is that all the poor little Muppet is going to have? Do you think he or she could have a body too?

Yes of course a body. But how would I properly add that to the equation without sounding like a dunce?

How about:  you have a total of 30 sticks.
you will use 16 of them for the head
how many sticks do you have left for the body?
(the answer to that last question is "x" for unknown)
now write the equation that shows adding up the number of sticks used for the body plus the head equals 30
