Variable y varies directly with variable x, and y = 6 when x = 9. What is the value of x when y = 18?

OpenStudy (i_ask_alot):

@hennawho Please help you are really helpful.

OpenStudy (hennawho):

varies directly means whatever ur doing with y, you do with x. So if you multiply y by 3 to get 18, you have to do the same to x. So x=27

OpenStudy (i_ask_alot):

Thanks before you go can I ask you 1 more?

OpenStudy (hennawho):

bc 6 x 3 = 18 so 9 x 3 = ...

OpenStudy (hennawho):

yeah

The number of bricks a bricklayer can lay, b, varies directly with the amount of time the bricklayer is laying bricks, t. George can lay 45 bricks in 30 min. Which direct linear variation equation models the information? A. b = 0.3t B. b = 0.6t C. b = 1.5t D. b = 3t

OpenStudy (hennawho):

Just plug in the numbers to each equation until one of them works. In the question, b is the number of bricks and t is time. So b=45 and t=30 So plug those numbers into each equation until one of them works Try it and tell me what u get and i can see if it's correct.

C?

OpenStudy (i_ask_alot):

Is it C

OpenStudy (hennawho):
