Mathematics 15 Online
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

show that \(2\mid x^2-1 \implies 8\mid x^2-1\)

OpenStudy (baru):

x has to be odd... so x^2-1 = (x+1)(x-1) (product of two even numbers) so it has to be divisible by 4. thats all i got :/

OpenStudy (baru):

perhaps there is some interesting property of two successive even number?
