Why is it important for all scientists to use the metric system?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think It is important that all scientists use the metric system to avoid error. You don't want one scientist measuring in inches and the other in centimeters because then you would have a problem

What a drag

I agree with iigotek00, but also because if their research is going to become public to the world, other scientists need to be using the same system as them. America is one of the only countries who uses the customary system, so scientists need to use the metric for everyone to be able to use their research. Hope this helps! :)

If you are going to compare data, you don't want to convert each data point into inches or meters or liters or pounds. It's too much work.
